Online Benchmarking of Energy Consumption

Introduction

This online benchmarking of energy consumption serves 2 purposes:

Steps for Online Benchmarking

There are two levels of online benchmarking:

  1. First Level (Screening Level) - focus on the energy consumption improvement through better energy usage and management practice without improving its energy end use system efficiency.
  2. Second Level (Refined Level) - advise the user to improve certain energy end use systems efficiency where the corresponding Secondary Indicators are poorer than the average value.

The online benchmarking involves the following simple steps:

Classification:

Step 1.
Identify the subgroup that the permises concerned belong to.

First Level Benchmarking & Private Target Setting:

Step 2.
Input energy consumption of the premises concerned.

Step 3.
Input building information of the premises concerned for energy benchmarking and analysis.

Step 4.
(i) Your energy consumption will be compared with your sub-group population.
(ii) The target primary energy consumption indicator that the user should achieve when the benchmark are set at 50th percentile will be shown.
(iii) Advice will be shown.

Second Level Benchmarking & Private Target Setting:

Step 5.
Input other additional information (i.e. energy end use systems) of the premises concerned for refined energy benchmarking and analysis.

Step 6.
(i) Your energy consumption will be compared with your sub-group population.
(ii) The refined target primary and secondary indicators that the user should achieve when the benchmark are set at 50th percentile will be shown.
(iii) Advice will be shown.
